Hi, I’m Louise Magee
I am a sex-positive psychosexual and relationship therapist with a historical scientific background in reproductive immunology and clinical embryology. My work is grounded in evidence-based practice, and I use scientifically informed therapeutic tools to support the different modalities I offer.
I am accredited by the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) in both sex therapy and relationship therapy. I am also fully accredited with the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA) and trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
This additional training allows me to offer specialised support to clients experiencing fertility challenges, trauma, and the impact these can have on intimacy and relationships.
I began my career as a clinical scientist, specialising in reproductive immunology. After graduating, I trained as a clinical embryologist with Lord Professor Robert Winston at Hammersmith Hospital and continued my professional development at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. Working in the field of fertility, I witnessed how medical and emotional challenges often go hand in hand. This intersection sparked my interest in the connection between the mind and the body and inspired me to train as a fully qualified therapist. I have studied with organisations approved and accredited by COSRT, BICA and EMDR-UK to ensure that I offer effective integrative therapy solutions and healing modalities to my clients. I have used my personal journey to inform the effectiveness of the therapies that I offer and also integrate somatic trauma therapy, shamanic practise and energy psychotherapy so that a complete and holisitc therapy can be offered to clients and tailored to specific inidivual requirements.
My Journey
In sessions,
The therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change. I am an active presence in the therapy room, bringing warmth, honesty, knowledge and skill. You can expect to be met with empathy, respect and curiosity as we work toward greater understanding, healing and connection.
Today,
I work with individuals and couples online, and in person based in the Brighton area. I bring creativity, compassion and deep empathy into the therapy room, drawing on both my professional expertise and lived experience to help you navigate the challenges that have brought you to therapy.
Aims,
My practice blends scientific insight with emotional attunement. I work at a pace that feels right for each client, creating a space where people can feel safe, seen, and supported, especially during life’s most intimate and vulnerable moments.
My unique approach,
I work holistically, integrating cognitive, somatic (body-based) and energetic approaches. Together, we will explore and make sense of your unique narrative, including adverse and formative life experiences. I am passionate about empowering clients, and we work collaboratively to address the difficulties you bring - whether that includes stress, anxiety, trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional struggles, relational ruptures, intimacy challenges, or fertility-related concerns.
